Bailey was a female owner surrender. The family had owned Bailey since she was a puppy, but their son's severe allergy forced them to surrender her. She had deliberately not told a friend that they were surrendering Bailey so the friend would not feel obligated to take her.

After the surrender, the friend applied to adopt & in an unusual move the adoption was approved. For a while all went well, but then Bailey began to withdraw & stopped eating. No physical cause could be found so it was thought that Bailey was depressed and the new Mom reluctantly returned her to us.

Within days she stopped eating again and this time the tests showed liver failure. Treatment seemed to be helping, but she collapsed on Thanksgiving Day 2002 and the only option was to let her go

Bailey was very happy in our home and loved sharing the recliner with her foster dad.

She is buried with our dogs beside the lilac.
